Baptism at Faith

Baptism is one of the two sacraments of the Lutheran church. Baptism is an initiation into the Body of Christ. Baptism is also initiation into the life of the congregation of Faith. For this reason, normally only children of people connected with the community of Faith are baptised at the church. Also, because most of the congregation gathers on Sunday, baptisms are usually celebrated during Sunday worshop. These are guidelines, however, and not rules.

Children and adults

People may be baptized at any age. Infant baptism is common. No matter what age, people who are baptized are presented by a sponsor (or godparents). Godparents promise to support and nuture in faith the person being baptized. Parents, for infants, promise to do the same.

If you wish to be baptized or wish to have your child baptised, the first step is to speak with the pastor. You may write the pastor at pastor@faithcambridge.org.
